Transforming the Built Environment with the Hong Kong Green Building Council Print
Client Support News - Hong Kong

LCW_0908Following our campaign for the Hong Kong SAR Government’s (HKSARG) Council of Sustainable Development that ran over much of 2009, Ketchum worked on yet another meaningful project that shapes the future of Hong Kong’s built environment. This time the team supported the launch of the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC), which was founded by the Transforming the Built Environment with the Hong Kong Green Building Council Construction Industry Council, the Business Environment Council, the BEAM Society and the Professional Green Building Council. With founding members representing different stages of the building life cycle, the HKGBC aims to promote the adoption of green building practices amongst key stakeholders.

To announce the launch of the Hong Kong Green Building Council, an inaugural ceremony was held at the Conrad Hotel on November 20, followed by a full-day conference with officiating guests and keynote speakers John Tsang, Financial Secretary, HKSARG and Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development, HKSARG. Representatives from the World Green Building Council and the Green Building Councils in Mainland China, Taiwan and Australia also joined and discussed the intricacies of sustainable and green building design, construction, operation, management and use, as well as new roadmap for sustainable buildings. Ketchum’s support spanned from RSVP, logistics arrangements, staging and production, to program development and media management. Over 400 industry stakeholders participated in the conference
