DSM Desotech is a world leader in the development of high-performance ultraviolet light (UV) curable materials, a primary use of which is to protect optical fibers. Ketchum Beijing and Shanghai recently worked together to organize a high-level industry influencer salon and media briefing for the company to drive conversation around the theme of "Fiber-to-the-home deployment in China: strategies to increase bandwidth and decrease total cost." The purpose of the salon was to position DSM as the preeminent provider of coatings and other innovative fiber optic technologies.

More than 40 participants attended the salon, including 13 key influencers and 14 top industry journalists. The session featured guest speakers from DSM and a lively discussion with government officials, industry experts and representatives of various telecom carriers. DSM also used the occasion to announce the signing of a four-year deal with Yangtze Optical Fiber and Cable Company Ltd, a leading Chinese fiber-optic cable manufacturer, for the manufacture and supply of DSM's next-generation fiber optic DeSolite Supercoatings^TM .

A small-scale media roundtable followed the influencer salon at which DSM executives gave a more detailed introduction to the company and the future of the fiber-optic industry within Mainland China and globally.

At both events DSM highlighted how fiber coatings can extend the life of fiber as well as improve the reliability of the signal it carries. It also explained how micro-bending technology is critical to meeting the exploding demand for bandwidth and protecting network investments.
