After supporting leading sports brand Oakley at the Beijing Olympic Games, Ketchum had another opportunity to team up with the brand in February- this time at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. The Ketchum team supported the China delegation at a six-day Olympic Experience Oakley had created for top-tier sports and lifestyle media from around the world.

Oakley’s international media event took place at Grouse Mountain, Vancouver. The entire resort was decked with Oakley’s branding and featured an exclusive Rolling O-Lab at the foot of the mountain and an Oakley Museum at the top. Technology presentations at the Rolling O-Lab included the use of optical laser scope equipment that demonstrates clarity and prism shift, ultraviolet emitters and measuring devices to illustrate UVprotection, and testing rigs that show the effects of high-velocity and high-mass impact situations. The day’s festivities culminated with the debut of the Oakley 2010 Technical Outerwear Collection. Olympic superstars Shaun White and Gretchen Bleiler both attended the show.

The time available on the tour provided ample opportunity for media guests to visit the Oakley Athletes’ Safe House where athletes could enjoy refreshments and create unique Custom Oakley eyewear. Also, the Oakley pop-up store offered consumers selected Oakley eyewear and goggle products as used by the Olympic athletes, including the Oakley Global limited collection. Reporters were also taken to watch the biathlon and the moguls events to ensure that everyone had a full dose of Olympic atmosphere both in the town and on the mountain.
